Michael Brandon was born on April 20, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. His real name is Michael Feldman. Born into a working-class family he had a lot of different jobs before starting acting. After a lot of theatrical assignments, Michael Brandons first film appearance - apart from a minor roll in Goodbye, Columbus (1969) - was as Mike Vecchio in the movie Lovers and Other Strangers (1970). He also appeared as real-life biographer and confidant William Bast in the 1976 biopic James Dean - A Legend in His Own Time. In the TV series Emerald Point N.A.S he played David Marquette, but maybe he is best known for his role as Lt. James Dempsey in the British television series Dempsey and Makepeace (1985-1986). Since then Michael Brandon has appeared in many TV movies, but also doing some stage work.
Michael Brandon was married from 1973 to 1976 to Lindsay Wagner, whom he had met in an acting class [for a picture of him and Lindsay Wagner together see the Links section]. Michael Brandon (born Michael Feldman; April 20, 1945)[1] is an American actor. He is known for his role as James Dempsey in the British drama series Dempsey and Makepeace (1985–1986) and narrating the American dub of the children's television series Thomas & Friends (2004–2012). His theatre credits include the original Broadway production of Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? (1969), and Jerry Springer in the West End production of Jerry Springer: The Opera (2003–2004).
Early life
[edit]Brandon was born Michael Feldman in Brooklyn, New York on April 20, 1945, to Miriam (née Tumen) and Sol Feldman.[1][2] At age nine, he and his family moved to Valley Stream, New York, where he attended Memorial Junior High and graduated from Valley Stream Central High School. Brandon then attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and made his debut on Broadway before turning to cinema.[3] He is of Jewish heritage.[4]
